I’m not saying that to boost business. It’s just it may be exactly what you need right now. I see it as a positive action. Raising a chocobo might help you somehow, that’s all. Hehe… And you’re in luck! It just so happens we aren’t taking care of any chocobos at the moment. We can take care of any chocobo you’ve caught in one of our stables. We have 6 stables, and each one costs 10000 gil. What do you say?

GREAN (Take care of my chocobos)

To raise a chocbo, you’ll need a room called a Choco Pen. We charge 10000 gil to rent out each one. Currently, we can rent out up to 6. Once you rent a Choco Pen, we’ll temporarily hold up to 4 chocobos you’ve caught in the fenced area outside. You can choose later which to place inside a Choco Pen. Choco Pens are 10000 gil each.

I was once told that, somewhere in the world, there’s a man known as the Chocobo Sage. Apparently, this sage knows all sorts of incredible ways to raise chocobos. If he really does exist, I’d like to meet him someday.

GREAN (Tell me about rearing them)

You won’t have to trouble yourself with rearing a chocobo. We’ll make sure the day to day care is handled properly. The only thing we ask is that you purchase the food and feed the chocobos yourself. A chocobo’s abilities can change drastically depending on the food you give it, so pick and mix as you see it. If you mate a male and female chocobo, and give the female a nut, she’ll produce an egg. Newborn chocobos usually only end up inheriting the abilities of their parents. Although, come to think of it, it’s said that, once in a blue moon, chocobos with special abilities are born. Not that I’ve seen any myself.

GREENE (Feeding)

Chocobo feed is known as ‘greens’. Gesahl Greens are the most famous. Chocobos mature differently depending on which ones they eat. For instance, certain types will boost their stamina. You may as well figure out the various effects on your own. Experiment and see what works best. Oh yeah… All chocobos have a natural ability. They can’t be raised to have abilities they weren’t born with. If a chocobo fails to improve after you’ve fed it, that means it’s reached its potential. It’s usually best to just let them go at this stage, or mate them, so that you can raise new chocobos.

GREENE (Mating)

If you mate a male and female chocobo, they’ll produce an egg. However, the female will need to be fed a nut first, such as a Pipio or Rutile. Think of a nut as a kind of chocobo nutrient. And, of course, we sell those here too!

GREENE (Chocobos inside the fence)

The chocobos out there by the fence are the ones you’ve caught. There’s only room for four chocobos, so if you catch a fifth, the oldest will be set free. If you don’t want that to happen, you should come back here ad place it in a Choco Pen.

GREENE (Ride them outside)

Yup. You can ride chocobos. What’s more, when you take them outside, they won’t run off if you dismount. Should you want to return them to a Choco Pen, just ride on into the farm. You’ll be able to feed them again then, too.

GREENE (What are classes?)

A chocobo’s strength is represented by class. Newborn chocobos, and those you’ve just caught, are assigned Class C. By winning races at the Gold Saucer, you can improve a chocobo’s class.

On days when there are no ships in port, I always come here to watch the sunset. The sun disappears as though it’s being engulfed by the ocean. And somewhere beyond lies an uncharted continent with a port town of its own. Such thoughts consume me during twilights like these. I’m so glad I became a seaman. This year is my 18th without a partner. To think a romantic like me should suffer that. Ahh, well! What with the Weapon debacle and everything else, it all seems a bit pointless now.
